Live from Houston....

Did I miss Bruce Willis becoming a Pro Bowl quarterback?
Has anyone else noticed Willis featured on ESPN Radio, Sportscenter and other ESPN promotions this week? When did Willis become associated with athletics? ESPN needs to decide whether they want to cover sports or get into movie/record production.

Brandon Jackson is MIA...
Oh, wait, he just can't practice. I hate the NFL rule that keeps rookies away from camp until their class has graduated. This made sense in the 80's, but today it's a dumb reason for rookies to miss key learning time.

Trent Green has balls....
The Chiefs won't trade him, so he practices. Green will be flopping like Steve Nash in an effort to get hurt.

Glendale is beautiful...
I was in Arizona recently and have to say, that stadium is magnificent. I had a chance to compare it to the Texans facility, and the stadium is honestly better. The weight room in Houston still trumps anything I've ever seen.

And life goes on...
The site will slowly get back to a normal schedule next week as I return from my globe-trotting.

It's hot in Arizona

But not as hot as the NFL Wives show could have been...
First the NFL cancels Playmakers, now they are pulling the plug on an ABC show about football wives. I wonder if they'll cancel Friday Night Lights too?

And let's go to the replay...
So there might be video of Michael Vick at dog fights. I'm not an animal rights activist or a Vick fan, so wouldn't this be great? I love the NFL and would hate to see any one person damage the League, but Vick is a punk and the "real" media fails to pick up on this. Thank you, Yahoo! sports for having some intestinal fortitude.

Bears sign two...
Garrett Wolfe becomes the first signed draftee of the '07 class. Chicago always does a great job of getting people in early.

More later if I can get away from meetings....

On the road again...

The BIG show where we plug ourselves constantly and voice our over-inflated opinions...
Today we got to listen to two guys that have never played organized football talk about the best QBs in the game. Both had either Tony Romo or Brett Favre in their top 10s. What a joke. ESPN needs to do some house-cleaning. They are a case study in becoming complacent and ignoring change. Don't I sound bitter?

More Hester on offense talk...
The media is really reaching if we're arguing about this in May. But hey, June 1st cuts are only two weeks away!

Just to end the debate now...
The top 10 QBs are:
10. Chad Pennington... near flawless accuracy.
9. Matt Bulger... can't argue with his production.
8. Ben Roethlisberger... will be much better in this new offense.
7. Phillip Rivers... really rising up this list, but could prove me wrong soon.
6. Matt Hasselback... just kind of an "eh" player though.
5. Donovan McNabb.. when healthy?
4. Drew Brees... and from here it's downhill folks.
3. Carson Palmer... just an amazing arm, great accuracy.
2. Tom Brady... could easily be #1. New receivers might show his talent better.
1. Peyton Manning... and I now hate myself.

For the hell of it...
The bottom 10 for '07:
10. Kevin Kolb... this is hilarious to me, still.
9. Tavaris Jackson... the poor kid isn't very good.
8. Rex Grossman.. I'm going purely off his last 5 performances in '06/'07.
7. JaMarcus Russell/Josh McCown... this is funny. I'd love to be an AFC defensive end.
6. Damon Huard... the line is regressing, his receivers aren't good either.
5. Daunte Culpepper... he's just not the same player anymore folks.
4. Matt Schaub... you can't be good behind that line.
3. Charlie Frye/Brady Quinn... this may take some time to work.
2. Jon Kitna/Drew Stanton... I love the improvements they've made, but Kitna is average.
1. Jake Delhomme... another one bites the dust.

Someone has a case of the Monday's

And it's not Brett Favre...
This guy could be a politician as many times as he has changed his stance on the "trade me, but don't" talk. My thoughts: shut up and play. Or don't.

Hester continues to score...
Now he'll do it on offense as a slot receiver/running back/returner/headache. This will be fun. I only wonder how Rex Grossman will eff up a pass to the flats.

Dwayne Bowe makes bad impressions...
I like to show up to my first day of work at a new job 20 minutes late too, Dwayne. But I make pennies, you can make millions. Thank God the Giants didn't draft him, he'd have been 25 minutes late.

Continuing the list...
#51- Dick Butkus... possibly the best linebacker ever, and a decent actor too.
#52- Mike Webster... Ravens fans can bite me. Webster's never been involved in a murder.
#53- Harry Carson... so extremely underappreciated. Kept LT in check.
#54- Brian Urlacher... a lot of good players have used the number 54, but none as well as Brian.
#55- Junior Seau... a first ballot HOF guy.
#56- Lawrence Taylor... it's amazing that he was able to stay on the field. He'd be out of the NFL today.
#57- Dwight Stephenson... a real game-changer from the center position.
#58- Jack Lambert... I wanted to go Derrick Thomas here, but Lambert was simply better.
#59- Jack Ham... a terror in the middle of many great defenses.
#60- Chuck Bednarik... by now you know my rule on if an award is named after you.
#61- Bill George... I had to use the WayBackMachine to find this one.
#62- Charley Trippi... another WBM'er.
#63- Gene Upshaw... an All Pro guard and the Union boss for the NFLPA.
#64- Randall McDaniel... a pillar of stability.
#65- Gary Zimmerman... a future HOF'er.
#66- Ray Nitschke... despite my lack of love for Packers, Nitschke film always stops my remote.
#67- Russell Maryland... we didn't have many choices here.
#68- Russ Grimm... one of the best Hogs from a dominating era.
#69- Tim Krumrie... Google.com people.
#70- Rayfield Wright... sadly, many hadn't heard of him until his HOF induction.
#71- Tony Boselli... almost forgotten now, he was better than Pace or Ogden early on.
#72- Dan Dierdorf... from when the Cardinals and MNF were good.
#73- Larry Allen... maybe the most dominating guard ever.
#74- Bob Lilly... was the key to the Doomsday Defense.
#75- Joe Greene... not only did he have a badass nickname, he was a darn good player too.
#76- Orlando Pace... many consider him the best LT ever. I think they forgot about #78.
#77- Red Grange... yes, the Galloping Ghost wore a lineman's number.
#78- Anthony Munoz... the prototypical left tackle.
#79- Erik Williams... should be given a lot of credit for those new rings in Dallas.
#80- Jerry Rice... best player ever.
#81- Dick Lane... aka, Night Train.
#82- Raymond Berry... was Johnny U's best target.
#83- Ted Hendricks... was one of the most consistent and dominating linebackers of his time.
#84- Shannon Sharpe... loudest and most productive TE ever.
#85- Jack Youngblood... this guy's highlight reel is a must have for DL coaches.
#86- Hines Ward... an amazing all-around football player.
#87- Dave Casper... was in a league of his own for some time.
#88- Alan Page... sorry Irvin, I can't stand you. Page was both respected and feared on the field.
#89- Mike Ditka... you have to love his grit.
#90- Neil Smith... I used to practice the baseball swing in my backyard people.
#91- Tommie Harris... another thin number, but Harris has the makings of a great DT.
#92- Reggie White... the best defensive end most of us will ever see.
#93- John Randle... this guy was scary. Such a talent.
#94- Chad Brown... people forget how good he was in Pittsburgh.
#95- Greg Lloyd... no one has forgotten how good he was though.
#96- Alex Brown... surely I'm missing something here, right?
#97- Bryant Young... has been dominating the DL for a decade and a half.
#98- Julian Peterson... among the most versatile linebackers I've seen.
#99- Warren Sapp... had a five-year run of dominance that may not be matched.
#00- Jim Otto... those AFL'ers were clever with their homonyms (Aught-O)

Sunday night sucks without football

On a happier note, my semi-professional football team is headed to the League Championship game this coming Saturday. We are 12-0 and ranked #3 in the Nation.

NFL Numbers Game
This is a game my brothers and I used to play on road trips, naming an athlete numerically in order. This is much harder using only NFL numbers. I know this is a long post, but you have nothing better to do.

#1- Warren Moon... so underrated. Thankfully he's now enshrined.
#2- Darren Bennett... yes, a punter. It was either this or Tim Couch, who is still better than JaMarcus Russell
#3- Bronco Nagurski... he was a bad man. Too bad they didn't have YouTube then.
#4- Brett Favre (puke)
#5- Paul Hornung... wanna bet?
#6- Jay Cutler... another talent rich number in the history of the NFL.
#7- John Elway... who in turn thanks Terrell Davis.
#8- Steve Young... wait, I think Troy Aikman just got hurt again.
#9- Sonny Jurgensen... I'm actually comment-less here.
#10- Fran Tarkenton... the temptation to put Vince Young was overwhelming.
#11- Norm Van Brocklin... going old school here, I know. Drew Bledsoe was too slow getting here.
#12- Tommy Effin Brady... man crush warning.
#13- Dan Marino... thankfully this isn't a playoffs/Super Bowl list.
#14- Dan Fouts... the best quarterback with no talent and a ton of yards in a gimmick offense. His best performance ever was in The Waterboy.
#15- Bart Starr... reverence at it's best.
#16- Joe Montana... I'm really speechless. Four rings. 7,000,000 comebacks. My heart.
#17- Dave Krieg... seriously.
#18- Peyton Manning... who just changed his number at the line.
#19- Johnny Unitas... still the best QB to ever be called a Colt.
#20- Barry Sanders.... duh.
#21- LaDainian Tomlinson... the little boy in me wanted to say Deion Sanders. Or Eric Allen.
#22- Emmitt Smith... remember how good he was in Arizona? Best O-Line ever.
#23- Mel Gray... paving the way for Devin Hester's worldwide.
#24- Lenny Moore... another very old school pick, but a true great.
#25- Fred Biletnikoff... when they are naming awards after you, you're okay by me.
#26- Rod Woodson... simply fantastic. So aggressive.
#27- Eddie George... can anyone be more underrated. Damn you, John Madden Curse.
#28- Marshall Faulk... he literally changed the game. Again, dammit Madden.
#29- Eric Dickerson... who just ran out of bounds with pads on from head-to-toe.
#30- Terrell Davis... who else can run a "blind" play action?
#31- Jim Taylor... the road grader for early Packer success.
#32- Jim Brown... second best running back ever (see #34).
#33- Tony Dorsett... who narrowly beat Roger Craig (and gets no mention for it).
#34- Walter Payton... when God made football, he thought of Walter.
#35- Bo Jackson... could have been great if not for the hold-out and hip surgery.
#36- Marion Motley... try to find some old footage on this guy, he was phenominal.
#37- Doak Walker... again, the best RB in college football wins his award.
#38- Number of records Jerry Rice retired with. Someone please do something with this number.
#39- Larry Csonka... he's not mentioned much anymore, but this guy was a power runner.
#40- Gale Sayers... poetry personified, so graceful.
#41- Brian Piccolo... it's okay to cry. I did.
#42- Ronnie Lott... what a force. I think people are still hurt from his hits.
#43- Troy Polamalu... coming soon to a free agent team near you.
#44- John Riggins... Riggo would be kicked out of the NFL today. Thank God he wasn't then.
#45- Ernie Davis... not much going on here at #45. Try Google.
#46- Don Fleming... played with #45 Davis and both are retired Browns' numbers.
#47- Mel Blount... one of the best cornerbacks ever.
#48- Stephen Davis... wow, how sad?
#49- Bobby Mitchell... Hall of Fame back was the first African American Redskin.
#50- Mike Singletary... I was afraid to even type his name loud.
